A friend of mine from work invited me to an 'it' party at the Playboy mansion last night. I figured why not, I live in LA and I might as well experience one of these talked about parties. I'd never really had any desire to go and I think I now understand why.
So we met in a parking garage in Beverly Hills and took a VIP shuttle to the mansion. Only the celebrities like Paris Hilton and Corey Feldman (don't know the others) were allowed to drive with their security directly onto the premises. There were about 2500 people at the party, I'd say about 1900 were scantily clad, if not nude, women. In a tube top dress I felt extremely conservative (and proudly classy) to not blend in with the stench of desperation, sex, drugs and overall superficiality of the party.

the 1st of dozens of setup 'photo opps' because living in this day of technology, after 'checking-in' on FB to the playboy mansion, people need to take as many photos of themselves proving their significance and experience of 'fun'. (unfortunately i am also a product of this generation, but i don't agree)
these kinds of girl's were everywhere, it made me think about the kind of girl that dreams of being in playboy and that lives for this kind of attention. besides being confusing to understand, it made me kinda sad. waiting for the restroom, they turn heaters on inside them so people don't stay in there too long
Overall, the experience is memorable and I guess an important one. I realize I'm not really missing anything. All these parties and social events that are constantly being hyped about by the media, they're just trashy excuses to fulfill a void of vanity. You can have the same 'wild night' in a sleazy bar in Hollywood. The girls may not be platinum blonde and there may not be dozens of staged 'photo opps', but you also won't need to worry about the diseases that live inside the pool's cave, or the disgusting perverse men that don't care about you as a person, your thoughts or even consider their own personal quests in life... the word 'flesh' kept echoing in my head all night. It's all just flesh. The facade we live in, maybe it would be more fun with a bit more class, a bit of subversion, something out of the ordinary... with true thoughts put behind it. |
